plum custard kuchen

It is plum season!

1 c all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tablespoons heavy cream
2.5 cups pitted sliced plums
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 egg
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

1. Preheat the oven to 350. In a large bowl mix flour, 1 tbs sugar and baking powder. Cut in butter until mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Stir in 2 tbsps of heavy cream and 1 egg. Press in the bottom of ungreased 9 inch square pan and arrange the plums on the top.

2. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. While cake is baking, in a bowl combine 1/2 cup cream, 1/2 cup sugar, vanilla, and 1 egg. beat well and pour over the cake and bake an additional 20-30 minutes or until the custard sets. Serve warm or cool. Store in the refrigerator.
