pond

pond, originally uploaded by ellajohn.

We went for a walk here this afternoon. John sobbed. Isaac was tired and grumpy. Ella was bossy. I was sweaty and my t-shirt was too tight. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. We did see a snake on the trail after preaching to Ella about watching out for snakes. This place is a snake paradise. My pictures are out of focus, but here he is.

in spite of all the grief, it's a beautiful place.
good for you!

Thanks Victoria. We are pretty lucky to have a lot these beautiful spots nearby. This one is in the Jefferson National Forest. It is perfect for the children because you are guaranteed to see some wildlife. Last week we saw baby geese, and today we saw the snake, salamanders, geese, ducks, trout, dragonflies, and turtles. Not bad for a afternoon.

OMG! I would have been totally freaking out. I should be used to snakes, as I've seen enough while growing up here, but I would have been dragging kids, screaming, and running for the car as fast as I could. You're a braver soul than me!

The picture is so blurry because I was using the 16x digital zoom. That picture is no close up. It was actually perfect that after all our warnings about snakes she got to actually see one. She heard it hiss.
