field recorders collective
On NPR's All Things Considered this weekend was a program about collecting and recording old time music. I was surprised to hear the Roan Moutain Hilltoppers, and the NPR site has a video.

ruby, seven months old
She is seven months old today. It is flying. She has three teeth after weeks of wailing and gnawing, and we have certainly enjoyed her fascination with her own toes. She rolled over this week and is starting to stand strongly on her legs. She laughs out loud at her brother and sister, generally goes with the flow, and sleeps at night.
She's dreamy.

Our sunday walk in the forest was ethereal. Up on the mountain the mist was freezing, the overlook merely a white cloud with crystal treetops below the rocks. It was magical.

My son gave me the best gift to celebrate the New Year. He wore bright red underpants all day long.

tomato fire
New Year's Day was the perfect day for John to ride his "Dooter" in the park. I absolutely set my glazed tomatoes on fire, and the cornbread wouldn't come out of the pan. I'd love to write one of those heavy profound new years posts, but lets just say I have everything I have ever wanted. This year I'm going to laugh more, take better care of myself, be a better parent, go on more dates with John, bake more bread, scrub the floor more, change fewer diapers, pick more flowers, and stay in the moment.
You know, the moment where I'm shopping for farmhouses.
